C&W Enterprises has been delivering 40 yard roll-offs across the Fresno-Clovis area since 1989. We’re family-owned, locally operated, and an authorized hauler for the Cities of Fresno and Clovis — a credential that matters more on commercial jobsites than anywhere else, because permitted construction, multi-family work, and licensed contractor projects don’t have room for compliance issues.
What Is a 40 Yard Dumpster?
A 40 yard dumpster holds approximately 40 cubic yards of debris — roughly twelve full-size pickup truck loads. The container measures around 22 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 8 feet tall. The footprint is the same as a 30 yard dumpster, but the walls are two feet taller, which is what gives this size its capacity advantage for high-volume light-to-medium debris.
The taller walls also change how the bin gets loaded. At eight feet of wall height, side-loading is impractical — the rear swing-open door becomes the primary entry point, which means the bin needs to be placed with enough clearance behind it for that door to open fully and for crews to walk material in. On commercial jobsites and open lots that’s typically not an issue. On tighter spaces, we’ll confirm fit before delivery.
A few important boundaries on what the 40 yard is not designed for. It’s a light- to medium-debris bin. The capacity is volumetric, not weight-based, which means heavy material like concrete, brick, dirt, and asphalt will hit safe weight limits long before the bin is full — usually at less than half capacity. For mostly-heavy debris, a 10 yard dumpster is the correct tool. And on standard residential driveways, the 40 yard is generally too large to place safely; most homeowner remodels are better served by a 20 yard or 30 yard.
Best Uses for a 40 Yard Dumpster
The 40 yard is built for commercial and industrial-scale projects where debris volume is high and most of the material is bulky rather than dense. Common uses include:
- Major commercial demolition — interior teardowns, building strip-outs, retail demolitions
- Large new construction — single-family home builds, multi-family projects, commercial ground-up work
- Large roofing tear-offs — single-layer shingle removal on commercial properties or homes 5,000+ square feet
- Whole-building cleanouts — office vacancies, retail turnovers, restaurant gut-outs, warehouse clearings
- Industrial and manufacturing site cleanups — equipment removal, packaging waste, plant turnovers
- Apartment complex and multi-family turnovers — building-wide refresh projects, large evictions, complex-wide cleanouts
- Major office buildouts — partition demolition, ceiling removal, large-scale tenant improvement debris
- Storm and disaster cleanup — wind damage, fire debris, large-scale property restoration
- Land clearing and major landscape overhauls — yard waste, tree limbs, brush, hardscape demolition
- Large estate cleanouts — multi-property estates, large hoarding cleanups, full-property clearings
For the largest jobs that exceed even a 40 yard’s capacity, talk to us about a 50 yard dumpster or a multi-bin rotation on the same site. Our commercial dumpster rental and construction dumpster rental services cover the full picture for contractors and property managers planning large jobs.
Why Choose C&W Enterprises for Your 40 Yard Dumpster
For jobs at this scale, the dumpster vendor isn’t a commodity — it’s part of the project plan. Here’s why general contractors, commercial property managers, and project superintendents in the Central Valley keep choosing C&W:
Authorized City Hauler
We’re an approved hauler for the Cities of Fresno and Clovis. On permitted construction, multi-family work, and commercial jobsites, that credential removes a category of risk before the truck rolls. Inspectors, GCs, and property managers who’ve worked with us know the boxes are already checked.
Family-owned since 1989
Owners Tyce and Kathy Ferguson have been running C&W Enterprises out of Clovis for over three decades. The relationships we’ve built with local construction firms, demolition contractors, property managers, and municipal partners are why a single phone call moves a 40 yard the same day on most jobsites.
Transparent, straightforward pricing
Your quote includes delivery, pickup, the rental period, and disposal at our partner facility, Clovis Recycling Center. No broker markups, no surprise line items on the final invoice. On commercial jobs where finance teams scrutinize every charge, predictable pricing matters.
Same-day and early-morning delivery
Our trucks are out by 6 a.m. Monday through Friday. On active commercial jobsites, we coordinate scheduled swaps so the project never sits on a full bin, and we work pickups around your jobsite hours so the schedule stays intact.
Fully insured
Every bin and every job is covered. General contractors, property managers, and HOAs requiring certificates of insurance can request one before delivery — a routine ask on commercial work that we turn around quickly.
Service Area for 40 Yard Dumpster Delivery
We deliver 40 yard roll-off dumpsters across Fresno County and parts of Madera County. The communities and corridors we serve most often include:
- Clovis — including Harlan Ranch, Loma Vista, and Tarpey Village
- Fresno — including the Tower District, Old Fig Garden, Sunnyside, and Fig Garden Loop
For large commercial and industrial jobsites in the greater Fresno-Clovis metro area, we coordinate placement, swaps, and timing as part of the project plan. Visit our full service area or call to discuss logistics for your specific site.
What You Can (and Can’t) Put in a 40 Yard Dumpster
Accepted
Construction debris, demolition material, framing, drywall, flooring, roofing shingles, cabinetry, fixtures, furniture, appliances (without freon), wood, packaging, and most general non-hazardous waste. No electronics. The 40 yard handles high-volume bulky debris exceptionally well, which is why it’s a favorite for major commercial remodels, large new construction, and multi-family turnovers.
Heavy debris note
Concrete, brick, asphalt, dirt, and other dense materials are not recommended for a 40 yard. These materials will hit safe weight limits at well under half capacity, which means overage charges and the cost of running a half-empty bin. For projects that are mostly heavy debris, a 10 yard dumpster is the correct tool — multiple smaller bins are far more economical than one large one for dense material.
Not accepted
Hazardous materials, wet paint, motor oil, oil filters, flammable liquids, batteries, tires, freon-containing appliances, asbestos, and medical waste. On commercial jobsites where mixed waste streams are common, we’ll walk through the specific material list with your superintendent before delivery so there’s no confusion at pickup.
How the Rental Process Works
Call or request a quote
Reach us at (559) 325-2128 or send a message through our contact page. For 40 yard placements, share the project type, expected timeline, debris profile, and site access details so we can plan placement, swaps, and pickups in advance.
Schedule delivery
We’ll set a delivery time that works for your jobsite — same-day delivery is available in most cases when you call early. For large projects, we’ll confirm placement clearance, swing-door space, and access route ahead of time.
Fill the dumpster on your project’s schedule
Use the rental period as your project requires. For multi-week or multi-month jobs, we coordinate scheduled swaps so the bin doesn’t become a bottleneck.
Call for pickup or swap
When the bin is full, one call brings the truck back. We haul your debris to our partner recycling and disposal facility, divert what we can from the landfill, and your jobsite stays on schedule. Same day service available.
